Empire 1,002,020
For soprano and small ensemble
It is the year 1,002,020. The human race is the only biological lifeform in existence. Individuals live out their entire lives in interconnected embryonic containers that convey vibrational and electric information through liquid channels. This system has spawned phenomena of shared experience – in particular, dreams. In this scene, the entire human race dreams of their extinction and cries out in unison to Father, the designation the human collective has chosen for the artificial intelligence that
maintains the embryonic system known as the Empire.
