Parable of Causality

For alto saxophone and fixed media

  • An expression of thoughts surrounding my learning about the illusion of free will and the self

  • A dimensional displacement of time represented by the flow/exchange of soot and gold through infinite concentric spheres

  • The delusions of a being, believing they are distinct from their environment

  • A presentation of a pitch set through increasingly refractive lenses of illusion

  • The saxophone as transhuman bard of an imagined storytelling tradition

Empire 1,002,020

For soprano and small ensemble

It is the year 1,002,020. The human race is the only biological lifeform in existence. Individuals live out their entire lives in interconnected embryonic containers that convey vibrational and electric information through liquid channels. This system has spawned phenomena of shared experience – in particular, dreams. In this scene, the entire human race dreams of their extinction and cries out in unison to Father, the designation the human collective has chosen for the artificial intelligence that

maintains the embryonic system known as the Empire.
